Australian Government - Austrade awards Export Grant PRIORITY ONE TRAINING has been awarded an Export Market Development Grant for 2004-05 grant year The grant will be invested in our Asia expansion program in which we are enthusiastically supported and assisted by Austrade staff both in Australia and overseas
VicRoads - a Winning Tender PRIORITY ONE TRAINING has been awarded the task of 'Design,Development and Delivery of 'Leading the Way' Sessions for 2006 The highly successful pilot program has been conducted with each excited attendee taking the 'journey' through the six VicRoads values using 'Leading the Way' a development guide for team leaders and managers produced for the Public Sector, and a fully tailored support workbook produced by PRIORITY ONE TRAINING PRIORITY ONE TRAINING is delighted to be conducting this program at several venues throughout 2006, given that PRIORITY ONE TRAINING co-authored the development guide 'Leading the Way' with the Office of Public Employment in 2003

CFA volunteers 'Junior Leaders' from rural and country Victorian Brigades enjoyed the ambience of the Novotel St Kilda as they enhanced their presentations skills Three 'two day' programs were conducted for three groups of volunteers over three weekends Each CFA volunteer was provided with a future resource workbook and a video of their personal presentationsThe formal presentations are assessed in accordance with the Australian Fire Competency(AFC) Standard 3.11 Public Speaking Feedback - "excellent content & facilitation", "showed me how to take control", "learnt lots of techniques", "fabulous/fantastic sessions", "planning has helped me deliver my thoughts, feelings, information more clearly & effectively", "made learning easy & enjoyable","excellent personal skills development"
Myer Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI® ) administration: DE&T Divisional team members completed the self-correcting FORM M questionnaire and participated in reflection on TYPE and how it can be used as a tool for team development. Communication and self-management were presented as highly valuable personal skills for effective team membership. Feedback - " different personalities and concerns were handled very well ", "you were responsive to the needs of the team", "good value and a useful exercise for the team", "a good starting point"
Winning Presentations-The Edge: CFA team members from finance, public affairs, human resources, community safety, building & property, contracting & procurement, and regions 7 & 8 certainly grabbed attention and maintained the interest of their audience with their formal presentations The formal presentations are assessed in accordance with the Australian Fire Competency(AFC) Standard 3.11 Public Speaking Feedback - "able to discuss & work on examples relevant to me" , "learnt a lot", "fun & relaxed", "practical examples & games to learn new techniques", "grab attention of the audience and & keep them interested", "highly recommend"
Dealing with Difficult People: Participants explored 'difficult maybe different' and focussed on better ways to manage situations that they have faced in the past. Fun was generated with participants allowing their minds to take them to their favourite place of relaxation and calm, as a skill for self-control and self-management. Feedback - "good, practical examples, real life-can relate to it", "loved the emotional intelligence stuff", "open, interactive", " facilitation was great, easy to understand, content good would recommend, very appropriate to the dept", "really enhanced my understanding"
Conflict Resolution: A group of highly engaged participants discussed and rehearsed ways of resolving conflicts they are faced with in their professional and personal lives. They discovered that planning and consideration of the 'what if's' is crucial to better conflict management. Feedback - "participation was strongly encouraged ", "very beneficial in my professional and personal life", " all very useful", "thorough knowledge of the subject ", "very happy with what I have learnt"
Managing Time: A wide range of Council Departments were represented at this FUN workshop to discover that 'time managers','time dictators', 'time wasters' can be viewed in a different way A roll of the dice allowed for individual reflections and group mindmapping clearly demonstrated that PPAR- Planning, Prioritizing, Actioning, Reviewing was the framework Feedback - "open mind to different ways of doing things", "excellent metaphors", "good - very useful", "being interactive kept it interesting", "relaxed workshop"
Train the Trainer: A variety of Council Departments were represented at this exciting learning experience Enthusiastic individual training presentations clearly demonstrated that new skills and techniques had been acquired to transfer information in a fun interactive outcome focussed manner Feedback - "learnt heaps in a really short amount of time which was great", "educational", "interactive & involving without being too stressful", "good fun,different from other training ", "great", "creative", "presented good alternative examples in a fun & encouraging manner

Communicating for Success: This fast pace workshop was attended by participants representing a wide range of Council Departments. AMCA 2005 Managing for Profit Program
: Managers from all States of Australia represented a range of companies in this week long conference at the Hemisphere Conference Centre in Moorabbin, Victoria. The afternoon workshop promoted the sharing of ideas and the practising of skills and techniques through a variety of fun activities. Group role-plays were approached very enthusiastically, everyone was engaged and humour was certainly demonstrated as a strategy for self-control and self-management. PRIORITY ONE TRAINING and Matthew Braden Design win a tender to work with The Office of Public Employment (OPE), Victoria, Australia to produce a booklet 'Leading the Way' A Development Guide for Managers and Supervisors covering the practical application of the 8 Conduct and Employment Principles of the Victorian Public Sector Management and Employment Act 1998 (PSMEA). Judy Newgreen, Director, PRIORITY ONE TRAINING, worked with OPE to structure, write and design the content, and tailor specific engaging and fun activities for continuous self-assessment to guide managers and supervisors through an integrated management development journey. Judy wrote a specifically tailored on-line training program for introducing the booklet and/or as a personal training program. 'Leading the Way' has been embraced by a wide range of Victorian public sector organisations.
